Being a Member

Being a member of the website allows you participate in the community by unlocking certain functionality. Being a member allows you to have an online profile in which you may edit, search for other members and see what they have contributed to the website, write news articles and comment on news articles.


*Note- Being a member of the website is separate from being a member of the website’s store. For information about the store, please refer to ‘Store Membership’


Registering as a Member

Step 1: Click on the ‘Sign Up’ button located on the top right of any page. (except for the store page)


Step 2: Fill in the text boxes with your profile information.


Email-
Enter a valid and existing  email for your account. (This will also be your log-in name)

Password- Enter a password for you account. (Recommended 8 characters or more, can be a mixture of letters and numbers)

Retype Password- Re enter in your password as before (This is to certain of your password being correct as to when you first enter it in)

Firstname- Enter your first name (Will be display on your profile page)

Lastname- Enter your last name (Will be display on your profile page)

Display Name- Enter in a name of how you would like to be display as on activities. (This call be your full name)

Phone- Enter a phone number you would like to be contactable with. (Can be either home phone or mobile number. Will not be displayed on your profile, only the admin can see your phone number)

About Me- Enter information about yourself. (Will be display on your profile)

Interests- Enter information about your interests. (Will be display on your profile page)

Upload an Image- This image is used to represent you. (A portrait photo of yourself is recommended. This image will be display on your profile)

Click on the ‘Chose File’ Button, a window will appear for you to navigate to your image, select it and open it. The name of the image should now appear on the website.


Step 3: Click on the ‘Signup’ button.


If successful, you will be taken to the website’s home page.

 

Logging in as a Member

To log in, navigate to the log in section on the top right of any page. You must already be a registered member before logging in.


Step 1: Enter in your account email in the provided text box.

Step 2: Enter in your account password in the provided text box.

Step 3: Click on the ‘Login’ button.


If successful, you should be able to see the log in section replaced with a ‘Welcome’ and your name. You should also be able to see a ‘logout’ button and a ‘Profile’ button.



Profile Page Overview

Your profile page allows you to control and edit your profile, write news articles, comment on articles and search for other members and see their profiles and activities. You must be logged in before you can access your profile. Click on the ‘Profile’ button located on the main navigation bar on the website. You should be taken to your profile page.



Editing Profile Details

You may chose to edit your profile details when you are log into your account. You should be on your profile page before continuing.

Step 1: Click on the ‘Edit’ button under your profile picture.

Step 2: Re enter in your details on the text field that you would like to change or edit. Please refer to ‘Registering as a Member’ for information about each text field.


Step 3: Click on the ‘Save’ button.


You should be now taken to your profile page with your updated information.


Searching for Other Members

You may chose to search for other members of the website and see their profiles and activities. You should be on your profile page before continuing. The ‘Search Members’ section is located on the right side of your profile page.


Step 1:  Enter in the name of the member you are looking for in the text box.


Step 2: Click on the ‘Search Button’.


Suitable member matches of your search should be displayed on the left side of the page.


Step 3: For the member profile you want to see, click on the member’s name.

You should now be able to see your searched member profile page. If you selected the wrong member profile, you may click on your ‘back’ button on your web browser.



Writing Articles

AS a member of the website, you are able to write news articles on the website. Other users may read your article and comment on it. Articles you have written will need to be approved by the Administrator before it is publish on the website. Articles will be displayed on the ‘News’ section of the website. You should be on your profile page before continuing. To navigate to your profile page, simply log into the website and press the “Profile” button, which appears in the main navigation of the website.


Step 1: Click on the ‘Write Article’ button located underneath your profile image.


You should now be on the ‘Write News’ Article’ Page.


Step 2: Filled in the text box on information and content about the article.

Title- The title name of your article

Category- A category name for what your article would be categorise  under.

Side Content- The article’s main content


Step 3: Click on the ‘Submit’ button to submit your article for approval.


Your ‘Activity’ on your profile page may list out the article you written but you and other users of the website may  not be able view it until the administrator has approved, possibly edit and posted it on the ‘News’ section of the website.


Commenting on Articles

As a member of the website, you are able to leave comments on news articles written by other members or on your own articles. You should be logged in to your account before continuing.

Step 1: Click on the ‘News’ button on the main navigation bar on the top of any page of the website.


Step 2: Locate the article you wish to comment on. (Please refer to ‘News Page Overview’ if you are unsure of finding articles)


Step 3: Click on the ‘Write your Own Comment’ link located under the displayed article.


Step 4: In the text box that appears, type in your comment.


Step 5: Click on the ‘Submit’ button.


Your comment should now be displayed on the article by clicking on the ‘Read Comments’ link.
